Re: 1966 carburetor issue . . and another idle issue . .

Doubtful soaking made a plug leak, but, a leaking plug is possible, and you never know what someone may have done before. Maybe they removed plugs and put them back instead of replacing with some "glue" that Berryman eats? A flooding carb mostly only floods in operation (engine running) fu...

Re: 1966 carburetor issue . . and another idle issue . .

Is there raw gas running inside the carbs when idling? If there is they are flooding. Sure sounds like a flooding issue. What is your fuel pressure?

Re: Corvair Convertible Question 1965

The back seat does not fold down. The seat back is removed by removing the seat base which snaps down into place at 2 large tabs under the front of the base. Push back by the tabs and pull up on the seat base to release it and then pull it out of the car. Once the base is out the seat back can be re...

Not sure what that left hole is. Not on most cars, turbo maybe? Fuel line normally runs through the large multi hole grommet

Re: Powerglide cable install into box

Precise instructions for this in the shop manual. Shifter at dash must be in drive. Rods must both be disconnected at the external lever in your photo. Rotate the lever fully Counter clockwise through detent (you may feel a spring detent sometimes not very noticeable so fully CCW anyway). insert cab...

Re: 67 engine and idle problems

Bypass plate makes it simple in the engine bay, works great. You could use an inertia switch mounted to something solid under the dash for safety. shuts off the fuel pump in event of a crash. resettable. No wiring to oil sensor at rear of car to pump. Common part in many more current cars and most c...

Re: 67 engine and idle problems

Oil pressure shut off switches do not work well at engine start. Many people who use these put a fuel pump on switch under the dash that bypasses the oil pressure switch so the pump can be run before oil pressure is up for use before starting. My preference for a safety switch is an Inertia switch m...

Re: 65-66 gm WOOD steering wheel color ???

From what I have seen the color seems to vary a good bit depending on year, (plant?) wear and fade. You may need to fiddle with a few different colors before you can match the wheel you have (or maybe mixes of color).

Re: 1966 carburetor issue . . and another idle issue . .

The three gaskets (2 paper with one phenolic between) are all new from the Clark's kit. Is there a torque given anywhere for the two hold down bolts? I could not find a setting, both were solidly snuged down . . . cannot understand why the left was leaking at the base. Perhaps too much gas being fe...

Yes if the converter is bad so it can not properly fluid couple the engine to the trans it could cause no drive in any gear selected I would assume.

Re: 66 corvair power glide

who installed the trans in the car? Is the shift cable installed correctly per the manual instructions? Has the manual valve (controlled by the external throttle lever) inside the pan at the left side of the trans been properly adjusted after proper cable install?

It slides through. There is a sleeve with 2 special reducer washers one either end of the sleeve that reduce the sleeve diameter to adjusting bolt diameter. The D shaped end of the adjusting bolt goes through the D shaped hole in the big washer under the large nut and lock washer that you took of th...

Re: Tail light housing removal on 64 ????

Check out page 93B in the Clarks catalog and u will see the retainer that holds the housing in. They are probably just stuck from all of the water and muck that comes up behind them over the years. Yeah or undercoat and other general spooge:) Sometimes pushing or tapping on the phillips screwdriver...
