Re: Heater hose source
So hosewarehouse is 325 degrees but we don't know if has favorable flexibility and a slightly larger inside diameter like the stuff from whiteheadindustrial that is 250 degrees. Since I don't need any today I hope to get updated reports on the two kinds. hosewarehouse on flexibility and ease of put...

Re: Electrical System dead
Wow, if that simple controller sells for $65 then I gotta get into the fuel pump controller business. That one has a relay, but fuel pump current is fairly low so that a medium-sized mosfet could handle it easily. I would also build an impact switch into it, maybe a rollover switch too. Fun to thin...

Ken, about the 4 spider gears. Are you referring to the small 215 V8 option or later with the Pontiac 326 V8?vairmech wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 2:44 pmOnly with the V-8 but yes! When I start on the 3 speed I'll try to remember to post here.RexJohnson wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:23 am It seems that I heard that the 4sp trans had a diff with 4 spider gears?

Re: Electrical System dead
Well I need to offer up apologies to all who took the time to respond. I think I have figured it out. When I turn the key to start the car, if I don't crank the car I hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds and then it stops. I think this indicates the controller is working properly and getting th...

Re: Electrical System dead
Thanks for the feedback. I am working on a 65 Corsa. Regarding the diode, I connected the banded end to the positive wire on the pump. My Corsa has a tach so I connected the green wire from the controller to the negative terminal on the coil. I suspect you may have a bad ignition switch. I had an i...

Re: Building a modded FI 140 for my Wagon
You probably know this, but always check the piston width and cylinder bore to verify clearance specified by the piston manufacturer. More than one person ended up with problems by "assuming" the pistons and cylinders done by a shop were in spec. Many years ago there was a fiasco with the ...

Re: LM Air conditioning
Blower motor and fan is also missing. I've got a few used A/C motors and they ALL don't work well. A buddy tried to get his fixed and gave up. I helped him install the modern replacement that comes WITH a fan. Permanent magnet uses less power and it throws a considerable amount of air on HI. Keep i...

Re: 1965 Corsa Seat Belt Bolts
Over the years I've found different length bolts in LM Corvairs. Of course some could have been moved from other cars. The rear seat belts tend to have a flat anchor that is chromed. The front belts usually have an anchor with a depression around the bolt hole. This was to allow the plastic cover to...

Re: LM Air conditioning
Great post by Dave W. It took a few years of looking for parts, but I got all he mentioned to install a system in one car. Fortunately I had a car with factory A/C to use as a guide. A LOT of parts needed as shown by Dave. One item not shown is the copper return line from the evaporator that runs IN...

Re: Heater hose source
I got this link from Al on the defunct forum and it is cheaper than Clark's at $11/ft vs $16/ft but that is still crazy expensive. Anyone have a better source? https://hosewarehouse.com/products/flexaust-cw-325-cw325-4-inch-air-and-fume-duct-hose-25ft I've used Hosewarehouse for A/C hose and fittin...

Re: New member finishing inherited project
My secondaries are notched. My carb specialist was surprised at this and thought perhaps four primary carbs had been adapted into the primary/secondary roles. Can this be used without exchanging parts? Some people do run four primaries on the 140HP engine. I would not do it, just me. You would have...

Re: New member finishing inherited project
Based on my recall, and Bob Helt's book, the secondaries did not have any vacuum ports. The pictures show a base with ports so it would be nice to figure out what model year the bases are. If I missed the discussion on what is in place for secondaries, my apologies. I do use 62-3 year bases for seco...

Re: New Wheel Setup vs. Stock
Now the 14" or 15" tire availability isn't much different. Fortunately 14" tires are still made for the "muscle" car folks. I run 205/70x14 front and 225/60x14 rear. As someone stated the fake mag covers were made in both 13" and 14". Same with the LM wire wheel co...

Re: Changiing Wiper Arms and/or Blades
I have new arms coming in from CA Corvair. There are almost no other options out there. I was looking for black. I had to order the "bright" and I think I'll plasti-dip them black if the surface isn't conducive to adhering paint. Calif Corvair shows USED wiper arms. The 1965-69 picture is...

It is why the one tool has the loose part on the lever to accommodate the different GM wiper arm designs.RexJohnson wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 10:56 am The tool I have is also double ended. I thought it might be to confusing to mention that. I have not figured out why there needs to 2 ends but options are always good.

Re: New member finishing inherited project
Some good comments. Your carburetors are rotated 90 degrees compared to factory. This modification was claimed to keep the carburetors from flooding in a high "G" turn, think racing. Not sure how well it worked. Now some install tubes to rise above the float vent holes to keep gasoline fro...
