Re: How to make it faster

Here's the story - the day before there were 2 bears on my deck - one was black and the other was the one you just saw . I got it all on video - I chased them off my deck and that same bear ran out in the street and pooped . That's why I said "you're doing it again" It may show in the vide...

MY VIDEO CHANNEL

Re: Rear Disk Conversion from Corvair Underground?

The suspension moves up and down - you must have a flexible hose to compensate - a solid line would quickly fatigue and break. All cars have a flexible hose . Solid axle cars have only one and independent suspension like Vairs and vettes use 2 Yes you can buy a banjo fitting with female threads to f...

Re: Rear Disk Conversion from Corvair Underground?

I am not familiar with the undergrounds setup but I made my own and here's what I did. I'm using Caddy calipers - the difference is that they have a parking brake but it is essentially the same otherwise. I use a metal line that screws into a banjo fitting on the caliper and the other end goes to a ...

Re: How to make it faster

My Mazda 3 is only 138 hp and its actually quite quick. It would probably take a pile of money to make your Corvair keep up with the Mazda . Which is what fueled this thinking to get the corvair as close to 150 as possible without breaking the bank. To get 150 hp you would have to have a very well ...

Re: HOW TO FIND TDC VIDEO

Have you considered evaluating the new distributor offered by Seth Emerson as a possible alternative to the aging Mallory I've seen Seth's distributor and it looks nice and I'm sure it functions well. The Mallory that I have isn't really aging and the Pertronix can easily be replaced . I like that ...

Re: HOW TO FIND TDC VIDEO

Dave - the Mallory shaft is better supported at the top and has bottom bushings and an adjustable advance limit . No vacuum. mine is one of Starr Cookes units and has a 6 lobe cam instead of the original 3 lobe . I heard but can't confirm that pertronix has a unit now to fit the old 3 lobe cam witho...

Re: Vega clutch disc with springs

I used one many years ago - As I remember there is no modification to the disk but I think Clarks supplied a thinner flywheel retaining plate to clear the disk springs .

I think that later on they supplied washers instead and recommended leaving the retainer out .

It was many years ago !

Re: big oops

Thanks so much! Sorry to keep bugging you guys about this, but what would having a diff with a different ratio mean for the car? Is that wrong/bad? If it is a higher ratio you will lose a little in acceleration but it will run at a lower rpm for a given speed . A lower ratio will improve accelerati...
