Re: speedometer
I have a GPS and also a speedometer app on my phone but would really like to get the speedometer working. Is it common for the receptacle in the newer caps to become distorted? I am pretty sure that the cable is connected to the speedometer since it works with the drill.

Re: speedometer
I have not changed the cable. I removed the cap and turned the cable with a drill and the speedo worked. I replaced the cap when I replaced the wheel bearings.
Thanks

Re: speedometer
Thanks for the responses. I did order and installed the correct cap. There is what appears to be a "stop" on the cable. It looks like a small swelling or ball on the cable just behind the square end of the cable. I will take a closer look at the end of the cable and try to take a picture w...

Re: speedometer
Had time to do some checking today. I used a drill to turn the cable at the wheel and the speedometer worked. I installed a new cover/cap recently when I changed the wheel bearings. This is probably a simple fix so what am I missing?

speedometer
I am almost ashamed to ask this question. Driving down the road a few days ago and the speedometer quit. I pulled the end cap on the wheel and everything seemed to be in place. The cap is new and I could not pull the cable out of the sheath. So where should I look next?

flat towing
The owners manual on my 65 Corsa with 4 speed says that it should not be towed at more than 50 MPH. Has anyone had any experience with towing these cars?

Re: wire wheel covers
They did spin balance the tires. The shop where I get my work done usually does a pretty good job.

wire wheel covers
Has anyone had a problem with the wheel balance while using the wire wheel covers? I am getting a vibration starting about 60 MPH. The front end is in good shape and tight. I took the car back to the shop and had the balance checked again and everything was fine. I haven't had a chance to drive the ...

Re: tire pressure
Thanks for the replies. I will adjust accordingly. BTW I have set of rally wheels just like the ones in the picture. I took them off and replaced them with original wheels and wheel covers.

tire pressure
I know this has been asked a thousand times but here we go again. My owners manual (65 Corsa) gives the recommended tire pressure as 15 psi for the front and 28 psi for the rear. I am running 185/70R13 tires. Is this a good? What are you guys running? 15 psi seems a bit low but I AM new to Corvairs....

Wow. That is a lot of advice. The coil did come to mind with the hot start problem. I will start making some checks following what has been posted here.

hard start when hot
As you know, I am pretty new to the Corvair world. A couple of days ago I drove my '65 Corsa about fifty miles to a show. The temperature was in the high 70's to low 80's. When I got to the show I turned the car off for a few minutes to talk to some friends and when I tried to start it again it took...

This is probably on here somewhere but my pea brain can't find it. How do I post a picture? I have a data plate that I would like to decode. Also, is there some place that will show me how to decode the plate? I have looked at several web sites but they have not been much help.

back-up light switch
I replaced the back-up light switch soon after I bought the car. (65 Corsa) I had to remove the drive train to replace the throw out bearing and pilot bushing and now the back-up lights stay on all of the time. I installed a new seal when putting everything back together. I think I remember reading ...
