Re: Corvair radio

I bought a used radio and at first I thought i was shot, just crackles, no sound, but after fiddling with it I found it just wasn't grounded well with my test set up. Works perfect now,

needs a good antenna connection too. (obviously)

Re: Ralley wheel

Hi Brad, I installed the new wheels and tires and have a bit of body contact at both fronts. When I turn they hit the lower fender and if I turn more they hit the body flange in the inner wheel well. See picture. What do you think I should do, new tire? or do you think I can roll the fender a bit? I...

hi Gbullman, I got these Rallye wheels, 14 x 7 with BFGoodrich 205/70R14

Got a lot of good advice from Brad Bodie here.

I'm mounting them this weekend, I'll let you know how they are.

I got my wheels yesterday, sand tires today.

The Tires (BF Goodrich 205/70R14) were 660 CDN (about 528 USD)

I'll take a picture when they get mounted. Very excited....

Re: Preferred Gasoline brand?

My concern with ethanol is more related to how it reacts with rubber (neoprene) components. They are not a good mix. Ethanol attacks neoprene, so fuel lines, pump diaphragms and gaskets may be affected.
Best to find fuel without ethanol for older vehicles.

Re: Preferred Gasoline brand?

Are you guys concerned about ethanol?
In my area (Ontario, Canada) Only Shell hi octane has no ethanol added.

Re: Ralley wheel

I'd like to utilize 4 tires of the same size. Do you think 215/70-14 (25.9 inch OD) or 215/75-14 (26.7 inch OD) would be too big, front and rear?

ok, I bought 4 of the 14 x 7 with 4-1/4 back space wheels, would I run 235/60X14" on all 4 or just the rear?

Re: Ralley wheel

Summit has these ralleys 34-473404 which are a 14 x 7 with back space of 4 inches. (5 x 4-3/4" Bolt pattern)
Seems pretty safe. Do you guys agree?

$99.00 each plus ring and centre and lug nuts.

Re: Ralley wheel

bbodie52, the Summit web site says they don't have a wheel for the 1965 Corvair

Is my bolt pattern 5 x 4-3/4 or 5 x 4?

Re: Brakes/lights

I see that in the manual, I will adjust it again to get closer clearance. And yes, I realize now that I should have taken more care to clean and lube the rod. and it occurs to me that its purpose is to keep dust out from inside the car.

Thanks for your help and advise.

Re: Brakes/lights

I put the new M/C in last night, everything went well except I had a bit of difficulty readjusting the push rod. The rubber boot got wrapped around the rod and made it difficult to get back to its proper position. I don't really see the purpose of the boot, I mean the M/C is in an enclosed trunk, no...
