Even better, Bob,
I over-simplified it for testing purposes but yours could help with a gauge problem!
Thanks for the added info!

Re: temperature gauge escalates to max reading
Jerry Whitt and I worked on his 1965 Corsa's head temperature gauge that was "pegged" at 600 degrees. Jerry figured this was either a gauge problem ($) or a thermistor problem ($$$), so we tested both. Hopefully our diagnosis was correct that it was neither, and possibly a ground problem, ...

Re: Corvair Alternator (Caveat/Warning)
There should be 6 pix in the main post, then one more (the fuel gauge GEN-FAN) in my reply to you.
Do you get them all now?
I edited the post a bit, so maybe you just got caught in between uploads? Should be "stable" now ...

Yes, the ground lug can be seen in the second picture of the back of the alternator (with the yellow spacer that will soon be replaced with the correct washer.)

Corvair Alternator (Caveat/Warning)
On my way home, driving east on the 10 out of Loma Linda, SoCal, my alternator "went south" on me, but my day was still better than this guy's day? Truck Flipped Over on Rte 10-Cropped.JPG NOTE : However, the picture of the unlucky truck is NOT the warning, so here are my two points of tro...

1965 Corvair Front Brake Lines (Caveat)
NOTE : Thank you to <tommy44432> for your "peer review" of my brake line fix ~ You are quite correct, and rest assured that the brass fitting is temporary. My trusty friend and assistant, Jerry Whitt, advised me the same ~ we tried our best to find a steel fitting, to no avail, but we are ...

Thanks to everyone for all the caveats ~ good to know we look out for each other!!! (PS: I'll try not to crash ~ I'll heal, but the Corvair won't heal so easily ;>}~! NOTE : I'm using the brackets depicted as "prototypes" to get the bolt holes right before making the real brackets. The fin...

Corvair Magazine Ads
Here are some Corvair magazine ads that show how the Corvair was marketed, before and after GM got in trouble for claiming it was a "sporty" car, causing people to blame their Corvair for their own incompetent driving abilities (or mechanics failures to maintain them properly?) This featur...

Solar Cavalier Corvair ~
Here is an original ad for Art Herschberger's Solar Cavalier : Corvair Solar Cavalier~Communique Ad.jpg I believe started life as a 1968 Corvair, but he would build one from your Corvair, if I remember correctly? Re: Heater Fan Selector Switch Electrical
Right, Brad ~ The "M" contact on "High" may be irrelevant, but may indicate that GM used this switch "off the shelf" instead of designing a new one? Is it possible that the "M" coil is used in the "High" position to absorb the "spark" of th...

Still Under Construction ... but there's some new info here as of 12/11/2014 @ 9:35 PM - Comments welcome!
