I have a trans/diff/bellhousing assy OUT of what I believe to be a 65.
Are there casting marks or other identifying features externally to positively ID what I have?
Pics are of what I have.

Turbocharged street cars/motors
Your experiences? High, quick building boost? Waste gates? I have experience with smaller (2 liter) water cooled stuff from the early 70s but am wondering what's been done with corvairs. Driveability. Heat control. Etc. What have you done, used & found to have been reliable for street use with a...

Re: Parts inventory Excel ?
Thank you both. Gives me food fot thought. At this time it will be used only for a physical inventory of the NOS, used & new (GM & non-GM) parts that came with the car. No $$ assigned at this time. It's probable some of the stuff may be sold off to finance getting the car running & stree...

About to get underway with an inventory of parts that I have.
Does anyone here have any examples of excel spreadsheets or google docs that you use or have used?
Thanks
Steve

Re: '70 Corvair SWB GT
 Well, it’s been awhile, but, you all are not forgotten. I’ve done some pencil scratchings to make some mid engine ideas visible, dressing up the design to a later model year. The premise being that the Corvair production continued into the ‘70s. Beautiful! If only GM had been thinking long t...

Posting off the top of my head head but the Corvair Community has a member running at the Salt Flats this August. He has recently completed some shake down runs at Loring at speeds approaching 150mph in a NA car. I'll post more when I can but FBOOK has a thread. He has an EXCELLENT support/build team.

Have had onne in my tool box for about 45 years. Not often used but indispensible when needed.

Re: LM Brake Drums...
Arc grinding the linings is the only way to go. Softer may wear faster but beds in quicker & doesn't eat the drums or require excessive heat to work. Riveted are in my opinion, best. A thorough 'bedding in' of the new lining is another step that many don't perform. That said, any members here ha...

Re: Just curious....
Minor mods? No. Tinkering & tuning & swearing/cursing & a dollar drain ( at first) yes. I personally think that, (on a street driven, properly controlled) car that a turbo with a higher static compression ratio is very doable but it requires a LOT of diligence to details. The Corvair bei...

Re: Pull through water injection
Plumbed in after the compressor you would need a pump that could increase its pumping pressure as the boost climbs

Re: Pull through water injection
Have used water injection extensively on draw thru turbocharged 2 litre fords in the past. I worked to control detonation and I never experienced ( nor uncovered) any detrimental effects. I used a wndshield washer reservoir with a small built in pump and a nozzle fastened into either the air cleaner...

Re: Clarification on Dual Exhaust
I have always been in favor of hand fabricated systems, single or dual, using pre-bent tube &/or bender fabricated pieces. Using OE hangers where possible the system can be made to fit tremendously well & outlets can be fashioned & placed where you want and symetrical side to side (duals...
