1962 Spyder's have a special satin chrome that will be damaged and scratched if you apply steel wool. I would soak it in vinegar for a while (maybe 20 minutes) and then try to polish it with Wenol or Flitz and a soft cloth.

That appears to be the thrust washer that goes between third gear and the 3-4 synchronizer. Part no. 3817703.

Local club member says these are Clark's IECO style arms with the Clark's part number cast on the arms. He is not happy about it and I will report after he tells me what they defend about the misleading nature of the advertising.

Car is probably correct, Rick. Only way to tell 2nd VIN for sure is to drop down the front crossmember; it's often on the bottom of the frame rail if not on the side of the framerail behind the driver's side shock tower. Yes, you have to remove the muffler to replace the pushrod tube seals. Some 60s do not require the removal of the rocker stud to remove the guide plates so check your application.

Sounds like a bad thermostat. Have you looked at your to see if its rusty and whether the microswitch resistance is within the electrical specifications?
