Re: Our 1960 Monza Coupe

Re: 1962 Corvair Turbo Spyder

1962 Spyder's have a special satin chrome that will be damaged and scratched if you apply steel wool. I would soak it in vinegar for a while (maybe 20 minutes) and then try to polish it with Wenol or Flitz and a soft cloth.

Re: 63 transmission

That appears to be the thrust washer that goes between third gear and the 3-4 synchronizer. Part no. 3817703.

Re: OPGI Quick Steering arms

Local club member says these are Clark's IECO style arms with the Clark's part number cast on the arms. He is not happy about it and I will report after he tells me what they defend about the misleading nature of the advertising.

Re: 63 Spyder? Help

Car is probably correct, Rick. Only way to tell 2nd VIN for sure is to drop down the front crossmember; it's often on the bottom of the frame rail if not on the side of the framerail behind the driver's side shock tower. The bodies were built by fisher and shipped to be assembled. Built at Willow Ru...

Re: Corvair engine compartment airflow

Bob Helt wrote about this in his Corvair Secrets book. I wrote to him about the source of the information but he wouldn't tell! However, he may have forgotten about my request. The upshot is that the turbo always put out more power more cheaply than the experimental OHC and fuel injected engines and...

Re: 1960 900 Monza "CorVefe"

John, I have the choke parts and other 1960 parts available. Send me a message.

Yes, you have to remove the muffler to replace the pushrod tube seals. Some 60s do not require the removal of the rocker stud to remove the guide plates so check your application.

Re: Back to the gas heater...

Sounds like a bad thermostat. Have you looked at your to see if its rusty and whether the microswitch resistance is within the electrical specifications?
