Re: Doing A Monza Dash In My '61 Lakewood ?

If I'm not mistaken that's a "maybe". Also worth noting on Corsa's in non-turbo (140) models the exact same boost gauge is installed and operates as a vacuum gauge. I don't recall for sure whether or not the Spyder gauge has the negative range as well as positive the way the late model does.

Re: LM Corvair 16gb Memory Sticks

EEeew, EM's! Just kidding. I think the top of the hood and engine lid being totally flat makes it look really strange.

IMO 8GB is too small, 16GB is the minimum I consider useful. I'm constantly using them for movies and TV shows so they fill up fast. The main one I use is 128GB!

Re: Names Carl.,.gotta 61,rampside. NFS.Just sayin.

Welcome and congrats! You've found yourself a fantastic way to join what I think is the best damned classic car group there is. Corvairs are easy to repair and maintain, a ton of fun to drive, and even more fun to talk to people about if you educate yourself on the subject. Educating folks about the...

Re: What will happen to your "Corvair Junk" when you die?

Thanks for the replies of both the entertaining and helpful variety! It will be difficult for me to find time to try to get something decent put together for the communique or a flyer type thing but I'm going to try to get it done before Pittsburgh. I'm glad I got some positive response to the idea ...

Yes, I wanted a set myself but I'm one of those "cheap" Corvair guys. :rolling:

What will happen to your "Corvair Junk" when you die?

Greetings Vairfolk, Not to put too fine a point on it but we've got a lot of old geezers in the Corvair community. :neener: Lots of Corvair nuts have collections of Corvair books, manuals, memorabilia, and/or Corvair parts. For the most part anything we own that is worth money (such as decent Corvai...

I know I'd be interested if someone we know and trust were to do these again. I was gonna say the ones that were paid for but never showed up were the special "Corvair Underground" edition........

Re: my 65 Turbo

Glad you are back on the Corvair! They really are a ton of fun. You should look into autocross events, Corvairs are so much fun in the corners when you've got safe conditions to push it. Kinda funny, when this thread came up on new posts I started reading to catch up (without realizing it was an old...

Re: 140 carbs

I switched my 66' Corsa 140 to 65 linkage myself, pretty common swap. Just make sure you floor the accelerator once every time you drive the car to keep the secondary throttles from getting stuck. =D

Re: Possible Idea — Corvair Artwork in 3D Lamp Format???

I'd be interested, but I also totally fit the "Corvair people are cheap" stereotype. =P I'd also be interested if there was a "Corsa" emblem (the one on the quarter panel), 65 180 HP air cleaner decal design, or 140hp engine lid emblem. Any of those would look great on our Corvai...

Re: New guy from PA first Corvair

Mike, Just as an aside don't be overly worried about the fan swap. With a steel fan, adjusting the belt to slip is more critical and I'm sure the belt gets more wear faster but my wife and I have driven many, many miles and a fair number of long trips with a steel cooling fan without any problems at...

Re: The belt and such other newbie troubles

Ted got you the info you need, but I'll add that when adjusting the belt tension as he described err on the side of too loose rather than too tight. Check it pretty frequently. If we replace the belt every two years or so and keep the belt adjusted to where you can turn the alternator/generator pull...

I'm not saying Clark's is infallible by any stretch, but they are great and we are lucky to have them.

Hey that bolt-on HEI sounds great! I see a couple of those in my future. Seth is a great guy too, I trust him 100% when it comes to anything Corvair or racing related.
