Re: Clutch Install
First question is whether this mechanic is experienced with Corvairs. The reason is, this job requires the entire drive train to be removed from the car. Re: Clutch Install
I'm getting a knowledgable old car mechanic to install a new clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. Any idea how many billable hours it should take? Thanks! Assuming no complications and assuming that by "old car mechanic" you have somebody familiar with the way things used to be... and as...

Re: 64 corvair
When you did the GoPro vids - did you have it in the sealed or vented cases? Hero 2 or 3? Just curious cuz when I did a similar vid it was really muted and I have headers that set off car alarms :)

Re: Is this a reasonable price for a 110 engine
Yup my 2 cents - $2K is an awful lot of new and cool parts to build your own engine your way. Maybe throw out your $1000 "budget" as an offer and see what happens but... $2k... nah

Re: Replacing pushrod seals
1/2 inch copper pipe... about 4 inches long. Cut it length ways so you get a short half-pipe then stick it up there and use the flat side of a hammer to slide it along the axis of the pushrod tube - tapping on the copper pipe - until it pops out. Never had a problem and a hell of a lot cheaper than ...

Re: pulling a corvair
the thing with the uHaul trailers is they are wicked heavy and if you just have a smaller tow vehicle than flat tow is a perfectly viable option.
and if you're picking up a project car... what's another 300 miles or so of wear and tear compared to 30 years of sitting in some dudes backyard.
