Re: EM floors. There isn't much left.
Thanks! The way home was even more fun. It rained a little and so I tested out its wet handling. Not much you can do with 80hp except cruise.

Re: EM floors. There isn't much left.
Well, first real drive. I made it to work. The speedo is making some bad noises and it isn't quite working correctly. Everything else is great and put a huge smile on my face. Now I can get it on a lift and finish up seam sealing the hard to reach spots. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160716/b7c0...

Re: Lewis and Clarks Corvair catalog Expedition
Initially it was somewhat difficult, but its just different, not hard. If you cruise it enough like I do, day dreaming about the money I don't have, you'll get good at it!

Re: Knocking
I have a similar noise on the right side of my engine. It goes away once warm. I have yet to yank the cover on that side because when I do its getting new pushrods seals. My car sat since 91 so who knows. It could be a stuck lifter in my case, although no misfire and seems to have decent power.

where you wearing a ladies bra whilst you where welding.... :rolling: you car also looks to be missing the 'middle' seat riser that the front seats sit on, it looks as if someone has neatly cut it away and left the reinforcers behind. have a look at my project thread for a terrible floor!!!!! Re: EM floors. There isn't much left.
lol that's what my wife said, looks like I was wearing a bikini. No it was a regular fruit of the loom tank. I was the one who neatly cut it because there was only about 1/8 of it left. I was planning on making a brace out of some square stock. Or leave it alone. It seems strong. Yes, bench seat. Ab...

Re: EM floors. There isn't much left.
Well the good news is that for the most part, my replacement panels fit ok, and I made the rest out of some thick steal from the sides of an old a/c machine. The bad news, is that like a complete asshat, I welded everything together in a tank and shorts. Well, 5 hours in a close quarters radiation b...

EM floors. There isn't much left.
Can people show me some pictures of their improvised floors? I had to cut mine way past where the new panels cover. I think I'm going to have to just piece it together with sheet metal. My main concert is that I don't have a bead roller nor know how to use one, so I don't know how strong my floors a...

Indeed. Welcome. I have a sedan and my floors are very bad in the rear. On the sedan there's also a cross member I have to section in.

Pete won my heart with the family picture. Also, very awesome van. Sometimes it's not the overall condition of a vehicle, but the memories and experiences it brings.

Re: Under coating???
The factory tar looking stuff, is that actually factory? My 61 has that stuff everywhere. Honestly I wish I knew what it was because it is strong as hell and thick. My rear floors rotted away and that stuff remained. The 3m stuff is good but it tends to stay kind of tacky for a long time. Sent from ...

61 Master Cylinder conversion?
I know cutting the firewall is one way of doing this, my question is, has anyone ever tried lopping off the res/pivot area and welding on a dual master piston assembly? It seems very doable. I know welding cast iron isn't exactly ideal, but it seems like a viable option for a conversion. Obviously y...

Re: My seatbelt install
I knew when I posted this picture i would get some negative comments. The angle that the seatbelt crosses my shoulder is the same as the other vehicles I own . So this is no issue for me. The angle of the seatbelt from shoulder to turnbuckle is within the range shown in FMVSS 210 anchor points. All...
