Re: America, Your Cars Are Getting Old

I would say from a lot of folks I know, that a good chunk of those NEW CARS you see on the road are LEASED autos and trucks. The two new houses across from me can barely hold two cars in the driveway much less have a garage or basement. Next to me is a really nice house that rents for $2,000/mo or m...

Re: America, Your Cars Are Getting Old

My newest was bought in 2006 for $8,000.00. Its a 2004 Nissan XE cab, 2wd, auto. It had about 32,000 miles on it and it was a salvage truck. You could not find these trucks anywhere. I even went to TN to look at one. I tried out the truck for about 30-45min and it was really nice, no rattles and eve...

Re: New Member, New Corvair Owner

I had Frank make the keys for a 64 Corvair conv. he made a few sets of keys for me and they worked great...and he is very fair in his price. You cannot go wrong having Frank make up your keys. By the way, I put some graphite in a trunk lock on my 66, and then the key would NOT OPEN the lock after wo...

Re: New here

My car has these OLD'S 442 7X14 wheels on it now for about 8 years. I have another set even in better condition than these for sale. I will take $350.00 for the set of 4. They are complete with all trim.

Re: Buyer beware

Also about the bevel on the plate edges, do NOT go by the stampings on the plate to get it right. I've seen the bevel opposite with the same stamped side up. :nono: :vert: :thewave: As I promised you yesterday...here are some photos of the carb plate, more time...took me at least 30-45 min to find ...

Re: Buyer beware

"1949chevy" Jimmy, Please call if you experience any problems with an order from me. You never contacted me about the distributor issue or the throttle plate claim. Regarding the throttle plate, the one I sent you was glass beaded and very useable. I rebuild literally hundreds of carburet...

Re: Buyer beware

Frank, I will be gone most of the day, will go downstairs later hopefully and find it. I think I tried to sand it down but it still would never seal when I installed it in my spare secondary. It would be nice if someone reproduced these that fit correctly. I would gladly pay $25.00 or more for one.

Re: Buyer beware

I have only bought 2 items from Ca Corvair...the last one was 3-4 months ago, it was a 140 Secondary carb throttle plate and very reasonable priced. When I opened the package...the thing had been SANDBLASTED...really? Straight to the crap box. The only other item I bought from him was maybe 8-10 yea...

Re: O/T-Moon Landing Tomorrow

Hassleblad Marketing is very interesting. I know Hassy shot the moon shots as that was one of their full page advertisements years ago. Another ad showed a pile of thumb tacks, a pile of rice, and a pile of horse hair. The ad read something like this "We use the finest materials to produce a Ha...

Re: O/T-Moon Landing Tomorrow

I know a guy that reads and follows all things NASA. I asked him why most of the moon pictures are fake. He looked at them with me and agreed they appea0r to be fake. The evidence is that their cameras all had + marks in the lenses which he knew about. Most of the pictures do not have them. Is ther...

Re: 1966 140 secondary carb linkage

Yeah...I always hated doing anything with that tooth bushing at the transmission...it only took a minute to remove it and 2 hours to put it back...lol. Me and that super small C clip had many a battle but after I called it enough 4 letter words and few I invented...I would finally get it all together.

Re: 1966 140 secondary carb linkage

I use a solid piece of rubber I made at the transmission pivot that has not gone soft for 2 years now that replaces the super soft one that Clarks sells...under the seat has a new Clarks rubber replacement that is a year or two old now but all 4 of my carbs are sync'd and open the same amount at the...

Re: 1966 140 secondary carb linkage

Roger, its Jimmy in Asheville...you probably remember me for two months I could not get your linkage to open all 4 carbs...they would only open 1/2 throttle or less...I had sent you about 20 very high quality photos and you had told me I had installed the linkage as it should be. Then one day, I dis...

Re: 1966 140 secondary carb linkage

When I was grinding/filing the openings bigger, those clamps were easily bent and bent out of shape, not sure but my money is on they are made in China...I think I put a magnet to them and it would not stick. I don't know how ANYONE could stretch them that far with the tiny hex head in that 1/4 inch...

Re: 1966 140 secondary carb linkage

I just recently sold my 65 RP 140 linkage to someone in Iowa that posts a lot on the two forums. The only fault I saw in the setup was I had to take some of the main clamps off the cross bar and file them down so they closed tight. They were slipping even tightened down as far as they would go. My f...

Re: Does Anyone Care About Racing?

We use to have autocross's at our annual car show until the insurance companies being the ones who think we are all millionaires out here raised our coverage for the 2-3 hour event that made it impossible to pay their "GOUGING" fee. At our last event I helped one of our club members set up...
