Re: Carb trouble

Are you sure there isn't a plug in it. When I rebuilt mine I thought that was an open hole too but upon closer inspection it did have a dish type plug way down inside.

Re: Rear wheel hubs

Diffy yokes are different lengths, did you switch them or didn't you remove them? If you didn't remove the axle yokes just pull the drive shafts into place and bolt them up. If you did remove them the long one goes on the left side.

Re: Please Help! 63 Turbo just won't run!

Under compression you could have fouled the plugs with a film of oil. I also noticed you said you had the rotor pointing to number one plug, did you rotate the dist. counter clockwise a little then tighten it down or hold the dist and turn the pulley with a wrench until the timing mark is is near 24...

Re: Please Help! 63 Turbo just won't run!

Also I did a compression test with oil on my weaker side and all the numbers jumped over 210, and then I did it in the strong side and they're all over 215.

Re: Please Help! 63 Turbo just won't run!

Did you ever try having someone tow or push the car to get the engine turning over faster where it would pump more oil to the rings & build up the compression?? :dontknow: I know it sometimes helps when an engine sit a long time, I had a Plymouth Duster that wouldn't start & a friend said push it & ...

Re: Please Help! 63 Turbo just won't run!

Hot wire it, that will bypass the wiring harness, run a hot wire from the battery to the plus side of the coil. If it still doesn't start the wiring harness is probably good.

Re: advice - how far do I take this?

Tell the guys why you say the knocking is coming from #5. Did you pull the # 5 spark plug & start the engine & still hear knocking?? Did you back off both rockers on # 5 until the valves didn't move & still hear knocking with the plug out??? Just grabbing at straws!!!!!!
