Re: Knocking and Pinging

I'm running my 64 110 at 14 BTDC, I had it at 16 but was getting spark knock at 60 to 70 MPH so I backed it off to 14. I'm running 87 octane fuel. If you can't get it to run good when it's over 10 degrees advanced something else is wrong. :my02:

Re: Knocking and Pinging

I have yet to see what your timing light says about your timing, you say you set it properly which is what when the engine is hot????? It should be 12 or 13 BTDC at 500RPM in drive with the vacuum hose off & plugged. If you have everything set right & you still get knocking & pinging your low band i...

Re: Corvairs Aren't for Sissies

Well I bought a new 62 Monza 102 4 speed & the first thing I did was put 28 lbs. of air in the front tires. I think GM's thinking was way off on the tire pressure thing. That 62 was the best handling car I owned until I bought a 65 Triumph Spitfire & restored it. I also bought a new 65 Corvair 4 doo...

Re: New member hi all my name freddie I live in lowell mas. I own 64 corvair just want to say hi

:coolphotos: Wish I had more money & time, my 64 is a daily driver that had sat for 22 years & got very rusty but it was parked just after it had a valve job & new viton push rod seals. I got running real good & have been driving it since 2013 without a problem. Last year I put new rear axle bearing...

Re: 1964 four door automatic project by remote

I bought a NAPA fuel pump 4/15/2013 for my 64 & it's still going without any problems. Including tax, $50.34. It's 15 GPH 5 &1/2 to 7 PSI & my carbs are just fine, the acceleration response is instant at any speed but I keep it 70 & under.

Re: Help desperately needed..

Those rocker arms might not be cracked but they could be worn very bad. In that video I posted that Davemotohead1 has on Youtube he explains about the rocker arm, the pivot ball & nut. Go back & watch what he says & what to look for. :my02:

Re: oil coming out of dipstick hole

When I bought my 64 110 I watched Dave's video on how to install the head and adjust the valves cold. I did what he said with a feeler gauge, I then watched a video on how to readjust them hot. I ordered a 1/3 valve cover & gasket from Clark's & did the hot adjustment & I think it said loosen them u...

Re: Help desperately needed..

Any stripped threads on the rocker stud or nut? It sounds like a loose rocker rattling.
