Re: Carburetion issues

Thanks for your it is greatly appreciated. The car has a 110HP engine and is attached to a 4 speed manual transmission. It came with an old style electronic ignition, not a pertronix, it has a disc mounted to the rotor shaft. The coil was a red aftermarket coil. A check of the coil’s resistance was ...

Carburetion issues

I have a 64 Monza. I recently rebuilt both carbs. The car starts ok. It is timed to 10 degrees before TDC. The compression is high approximately 155psi each cylinder it doesn’t burn oil, new plugs, new wires, and a new coil. The problem is a flutter at lower rpms in both 1st and 2nd gears. I suspect...

Right side not firing

I have a 64 Monza. today after the car had been running awhile I happened to feel the exhaust. The left side (2,4,6) was hot but the right side was cool. I removed the plug wire to #5 cylinder and no change in power. Removing #6’s wire and there was a definite power loss. I then removed each spark p...

Re: Air flow out of rear outlet flaps

I also am curious about these flaps. On my 64 Monza the left flap is always open, I assume that’s because it also is on the side of the oil cooler. But the right side is always closed. I assume this may be due to a bad bellows. The engine starts and runs fine after sitting for a couple of years, and...

steering mast jacket adjust

I have a 1964 two door Monza. It has an old rusted Grant steering wheel on it and the directional does not work. The Grant came with the car and does not fit properly. It has the correct column adapter but the cam that returns the directionals and the horn plunger are approximately 3/8" away fr...

Instrument cluster

I am restoring a 64 Monza coupe. I am planning to replace the wiring. I have an instrument cluster from a spyder could I replace the existing cluster with the spider? What would I need to do?

introducing myself

Hi, My name is Steve Vancour, I am from Martha's Vineyard Island, Massachusetts. I recently purchased a 64 Monza coupe. This is my second Corvair. The last one was also a 64 Monza, but a convertible. Unfortunately the first car was too far gone for me. I did manage to collect quite a bit of parts fr...

Starting problems.

I am new at the forum. I recently purchased a 64 Monza coupe. I am having problems starting the car. At first the car would not charge. I installed a new voltage regulator and a brand new battery. The car would start while the battery was fully charged, but the gen light never went out and the engin...
