Re: Problems with Fuel Pump / Pump Rod

Taking the pump out of the engine really cleans up the area nicely, unclutters that portion of the engine in a big way. I cut my pump at the base of it, above the o-ring and jb welded a small 7/16" bolt in the center of the pump. I would put up pics but im away from the car in college right now...

Re: Powerglide flare on shift

I think, and this may be a long shot, but the modulator could have possibly been for an early vair powerglide? If i remember correctly I thought they had lower line pressures than the lm powerglides. I could defintely be wrong here tho but i think i remember something about differing line pressures

Re: Problems with Fuel Pump / Pump Rod

I mounted mine right near the passenger toe board for a couple reasons 1. The crossmember that runs along there is a shield in place there to protect the pump from head on road debris which is a nice little advantage 2. Like motornoggin said, electric pumps prefer to push than pull and having it rig...

Re: Fuel Cell vs Stock fuel tank Opinions

If i could undo my putting a fuel cell in the trunk (easily and quickly) i would do it in a heartbeat. I have a DD and it is a total pain and stuff put in the trunk will possibly smell like gas at basically all times. I have it externally vented but it doesn't matter. I might still actually revert t...

Re: Carburetor Running Completely Dry

At idle you shouldn't see any fuel being shot in the throat of the carb, unless you are goosing the throttle. If you are goosing the throttle and only see one carb squirting then the one that isn't likely has a bad accelerator pump. An easy check to see if the carbs are working is to place your hand...

Re: Sound proof a Lakewood wagon

Try a layer of e-dead over just the engine cover area or something similar. The stuff really is no joke and would work great for that specific area. It would also cut down on some heat transfer as well

Re: Finally got my quarter fixed!

More tinkering today. I got some work done on my car. Shined up my "new" chrome, futzed around with some other stuff. The real news is what's going on with my brother's car. Today, we installed a head unit, amp, 10 inch subwoofer and enclosure, and some speakers today and got all that wor...

Re: Shifts into reverse really hard

Maybe the bands on the transmission are slipping. The band slips a bit and the revs come up, it catches and now it shifts rough because it is now "shifting" at a higher rpm now. I'm assuming you have a powerglide. Its good you have the idle down that helps as you probably know. I have a si...

Re: Hey Everybody

Wow those floors! I am spoiled out here in So Cal and never see vehicles that rusty. I like the black and green color combo. Nice job saving a Vair and bringing it back to life again! oh I almost forgot. :welcome2: Thanks and yeah the one saving grace of the car was the PO had new pans in the trunk...

Re: Hey Everybody

reminds me of the first corvair I got. 67 500 2 dr hardtop and it looked the same way.. It seems to bbe a pretty popular color from the amount i have seen around, especiaally in my area. All the vairs i see are black, that creme/tan color or black haha. My car is a 500 though I'm sure you figured t...
