Re: Ira's 66 Corsa

So a year goes by and I still don't have this thing even close to being together. Had some issues in late 10' but the biggest problem I have is too many customer cars in front of my little Vair! That's great for our rod shop but it doesn't help me get any closer to having this on the road. At this p...

Re: Ira's 66 Corsa

Well this summer was pretty harsh (IE busy).

We've had a customer's car on our rotisserie all summer, so there was really no reason to push hard... as there was no where to go.

Everything is still going to go through... just no where near my original time table.

Re: Seat belts

So when you say GTV.... I'm assuming that you're not referring to a GTV-6.... but an early GTV... say 1969ish? I would love to own one but I doubt that'll ever happen. Yeah.... the GTVs were the ultimate saloon car back in the day. People forget that prior to being owned by FIAT... Alfa had no probl...

Re: Corvair of the Month May 2010

Finally.... one of the horses that I bet on is actually in the race. ::-): Normally, any time I vote for someone it prevents that someone from winning. Me and Murphy are closely related.... cousins I think.

Anyhow I'm happy to see some close competition.

Good luck to all!

Re: Seat belts

Yeah...

Our Alfetta GT was originally a race car back in the day.... so I can attest that a four point harness is much worse  .

In this case it shouldn't be much of a problem based on where I'll have my seat positioned.

But yeah.... I'm with you.

Re: Seat belts

Well... it's been over a month since I originally posted that.... and in that month I've done some research. I've decided to kick it retro with a set of four- three point non retractable harnesses from Wesco Performance. So far I haven't been able to dig up any dirt on Wesco, which is good, so unles...

Re: How did you get into Corvairs?

Exactly the same way I got into Alfa Romeos....

I was given one. Fast forward 18 years and we've now owned 4 Alfas... and we're expecting an Alfetta GT this year. :tu:

So the big question is: HOW MANY CORVAIRS WILL I END UP OWNING?

To be determined.

Re: What other car?

That's funny.... A buddy of mine has a 63 GT that hasn't been tampered with... all OEM. We were thinking about stepping up, buying and building it but the prices aren't conducive for resale... which is too bad as the Studebaker is as unique and enjoyable as our Corvairs. Maybe one day I'll approach ...

Re: What other car?

Well.... If it has to be an American made car... and a classic... My pick would be a 1956 Chevy 210 four door post (or hardtop). Secondary choices would be a 55 (no four door hardtop available in 55) and if I had to slum it... a 57 (I really hate the look of 57 four doors). It's a four door, so it's...

Win The Mustangs through Healing Heros Network!

Thought I would post this up.... I am assuming everyone knows who the Healing Heros Network is by now, but for those of you who do not: Healing Heroes Network is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing therapy to members of our armed forces injured in the line of duty in Iraq or A...

So, I suppose suggesting that she wear ear plugs would only get you into trouble. ::-):

Re: meet the "rat-mobile"

Something to think about... Hantavirus isn't something you want to get. As far as safety is concerned purchasing a 3M respirator and full Tyvek suit is probably a good idea. Last year I purchased a 56 four door hardtop that made your Vair look pretty clean... damned thing was sitting in a barn for t...

Re: Ira's 66 Corsa

Hey Allen! Cool to hear from someone local. Where in Denver are you located? I'm here in Lakewood near 6th and Simms. I should be at the Hamburger Stand car show (near 6th and Simms) this Wed. night if you'd like to swing by. It'd be good to talk to another Corvair afficienado! Actually, I just got ...

Re: Favorite Year

Well prior to owning one I loved the styling of the LMs. :tu: Now after being given a 66 Corsa, and having done bucketloads of research; I have to say I like the styling of them all. :tu: Each body style seems to have its own flavor so to speak. Kind of like comparing a 55 Chevy to a 56 or 57... com...
