Re: Looking for some Weber 40dcoe base line info

Wolf, your set up looks great. All is not so perfect with my car just yet. I drove it around all weekend and discovered that in the heat of the day(90 degrees+) it exhibits a little stumble still. These Webers have always got you thinking. I've ordered some additional idle jets to try and richen thi...

Re: Looking for some Weber 40dcoe base line info

I hope your not all sick of me but I do have an update on my parts that arrived today. I now have the Weber back on and the car runs great so far :tu: The new parts really help a lot no doubt about it. I did still have a pretty good stumble/bog at a quick hit of the throttle so I checked out what si...

Re: Looking for some Weber 40dcoe base line info

I've been reading just about everything I can get my eyes on about tuning weber's and have even watched a few videos plus got a HPBOOKS "Weber Carburetors" and I now feel that I am an expert.... Just kidding but I did place an order today for 150/160 main jets, 210/220 air correctors, F11 ...

Re: Looking for some Weber 40dcoe base line info

Thanks for the response. I was a bit off on the information I gave in the first post. I'm use to holley jet markings and saw a number and assumed that's what it was. here are the real numbers. Main jet 145 emulsion tube f68 idle jet 62f21 choke tubes 34 From your advise I'll pick up a pair of #30 tu...

Looking for some Weber 40dcoe base line info

Hello been quite some time since I've posted here but been loving my corvair the whole time. I just picked up a rebuilt weber 40dcoe none progressive with adapter for my Spyder. I'm wondering if anyone with a "none" progressive carb could share their main jet, idle jet, accell pump and cho...

Re: 4 speed fluid change help.

All I can say is don't over fill it. Also I recommend the GL-4 grade lube too, I found a gallon jug of 90wt GL-4 gear lube at my local car quest parts store for about $15 I bought one of those suction tools at the same time. I'm not sure what was in the trans before but the shifting has improved ove...

Re: Say I over filled my transaxel, would it....

Yes it was level when I checked, but I backed it up on to ramps, then jacked up the front off the cross member to make the car level. I figure that while the rear was up lube moved to the front and I opened up the trans before the gear lube had time to level out. I think I'm fine though because I re...

Re: Say I over filled my transaxel, would it....

Ok so I checked it out and the diff level was fine, but the trans was over filled. About 1-1/2 cups of lube ran out when I removed the large fill plug. I think my next best thing to do is to just drive the car and see if things improve. If they don't then I'll cross that bridge when it's time. I did...

Re: Say I over filled my transaxel, would it....

Thanks for the info, as a matter of fact I do get some chatter sometimes. If I get a corret level of lube in there is it possible for things to "clear" up. I mean would lube burn off in time?

Say I over filled my transaxel, would it....

So would a over filled trans axel allow lube to get to the clutch disk? I'm having a off and on slight clutch slip condition and a small drip from the bellhousing. I'm going to level out the car and get under there and pull the fill plug and see if fluid runs out in a little while but I'm just curio...

Made some changes to the exhaust, I like it!

So even though I had a good flowing magna flow muffler I decided that I would get rid of it, so I did. Yes the car has no muffler now. I had a test pipe made with a flange on it where the muffler had bolted up so I can swap them back and forth. I really like the sound and I can actually hear the tur...

Leap of faith, put the spyder to the test

As some of you may or may not know I recently finished up my cylinder head repair that included removal of the engine, trans axel, ect, ect. So I'm taking a class about 45min drive from my home and this morning I took the corvair. Typical San Diego so-cal bumber to bumper stop and go interstate traff...

Re: Lost a cylinder, #2 DEAD!

Well she runs real good. The only snaffoo was after my extensive test drive last night pulling into my driveway I pushed the clutch in and it cocked over and fell to the floor, the whole pedal. The darn mount where it was brazed just a tiny bit broke :banghead: So this morning I removed it from the ...

Re: Lost a cylinder, #2 DEAD!

Ok, so I went home for lunch today and ran the car again. After about 10 minutes the noise went away so thats good. My throttal linkage is acting funny like it's binding so today after work I'll take it apart and reinstall it and see it gets better. Can't wait to get it back on the ground I think a ...

Re: Lost a cylinder, #2 DEAD!

Ok so I have made alot of progress the last few days and tonight it started right up :tu: It's was about 9:30pm here when she ran and I don't have the muffler on just the down pipe hooked up to the turbo. It was way too loud for this time of night so I only ran it for a couple of minutes. Im not sur...
