Re: New Corvair Owner - Hello!

The emblem on the fender is the 500 insignia emblem . The emblem is stock to that year and model. Keep it up you'll get there. Nice car :tu: :tu:

Re: New Corvair Owner - Hello!

I am really digging your 65-500. It looks like the twin brother to my 65-500 that I purchased in Washington back in 2019.

Re: New member, New owner

Welcome to the fray. That is a nice looking 61. My first Corvar was a 61- 4 door Monza with a clothe interior. You are at the right place for help and camaraderie . Good luck with the project. :tu: :tu:

Re: Internal Server Error

I read this post a few days ago. I had not had any issues until this morning. My upload time was very slow on any topics. I cleared my cookies and did a restart and
have not had any troubles since then. I am waiting and watching for any new problems. :tu: :tu: So far so good.

Re: 1965 Corsa Coupe

I have a small dental pick that I picked up along the way. It works very similar to what Tom is talking about. A little side to side motion an some back and forth usually does the trick. Keep up the good work. I am enjoying the updates :chevy: :tu: :tu:

The brake shoes look like old school metallics to me. I am sure someone else will chime in with a definitive answer shortly. :chevy:

Nice work on the exhaust system Tom. Looks like they are safety wired .Reminds me of my days in USAF as a jet engine mechanic. Most every bolt had to be safety wired. :tu: :tu:

Re: Building a modded FI 140 for my Wagon

I thought that I had seen something similar in Richard Finche's "How to Keep Your Corvair Alive ". It was in one of the later editions with the picture of his wife on it. I tried to find it in my Corvair book collection, but I couldn't put my hands on it. Great work as usual Tom. : :tu: :tu:

Re: Building a modded FI 140 for my Wagon

That was a good catch on the rear accessory housing. I figured the same thing out about 30 years ago when I assembled my first Corvair engine and was installing an aftermarket camshaft from Clark's . I was using an early housing because that is all that I had. I borrowed a Dremel and an appropriate ...

Re: Bucket Seat Replacement

I might also add that there is a substantial weight savings eliminating the Corvair seats. I have been a stock guy most years, but lately I've realized a lot of advantages with replacing my seating for something newer.
