Re: LM turbo intake crossover WANTED

I have a couple of nice ones with decent chrome etc. Is there any difference between 63-66 crossovers? I thought they were the same. Of course '62 has a hose nipple for the dashpot. I have one of those too.

They call the early model suspension design "swing axle" for a reason. :tu:

RIP Timothy Shortle (1961-2024)

Hello everyone. This is Matthew Shortle, Tim Shortle's son. You may know me attending several Corvair conventions with my dad since Buffalo in 2006 when I was 9 years old. Today, I am deeply saddened by the death of my father Tim Shortle. Tim was not just a great Corvair enthusiast but a great fathe...

Re: Main fuse blowing

Hopefully it will work out for you; 40-amps might just be enough. Yes, that style breaker is manual reset. :tu: FYI, I'd be surprised to see fuses or circuit breakers over 40 amps in that style. Maxi-fuses are the next step up and as I recall Maxi-fuses are available in 20-100 amp ratings. Maxi fuse...

Re: Main fuse blowing

Even 40-amp is a little light. The 10ga main battery feed to the car is rated to handle 55-amps. Hopefully your circuit breaker is a manual reset. Automatic reset breakers keep applying power to the short circuit until your battery is dead. You don't really need to research your alternator. Current ...

Re: Main fuse blowing

Agree, 30-amps is low and subject to nuisance failures. I would cautiously install a 60 and see what happens. If there's a problem, it will still blow a 60. I sell main fuse kits with 60s but I'm thinking of switching to 80 or 100 to reduce voltage loss across the fuse. FYI, a short in the main batt...

Craig replies: actually I hope it is the choke! Very simple and all visible. Probably one 9f the easiest things to fix.

Re: New Member. 87 Octane gas

A 110 hp Corvair is a premium fuel engine. But regular fuel should not affect starting, idle, or mild use. In fact, some owners whose cars only see very mild use (no freeway, cool to moderate temperature, no hills or heavy acceleration) often use regular fuel. To be safe, always use premium. The iss...

Re: New member - 1962 Corvair95 Rampside!

Let me tell you a totally related story: Along time ago in a galaxy far away, I had a '63 Corvan 95 Factory camper which I further modified by adding an extended-height roof. It had a 4-carb 140hp engine and a 4-speed transmission. I built a beautiful mahogany interior and it was my little ground-ba...

I dug-out my Turbo "up pipes" and unfortunately they're EM.

I guess you'll have to keep looking, sorry.

Re: New member - 1962 Corvair95 Rampside!

Welcome to the Rampside world! Before you pull the power-pack, check the clutch cable. When the cable housing starts to collapse, there's not enough stroke to release the clutch. A short term fix is to overtighten the clutch cable to get partial use of the clutch. The downside to this "fix"...

Re: My First Helen Springfest Adventure is over...

That's quite a story, thanks for posting. As for the clock, I find my eyes drawn to the inlaid wood table; that's cool. You mention the increased difficulty of working with an audience, I try to avoid that as much as possible. I'm sure there are those among the onlookers who want to lend an (unneede...
