Re: WTB One NOS 65-69 barrel or NOS #276 cylinder unit

If no one has a single NOS LM cylinder barrel or 276 piston/cylinder assembly to sell, I would also be willing to trade my NOS 243 (1964) piston/cylinder assembly for a 276 (65-9 flat top) piston/cylinder assembly.

Re: No more Bando 3V560 fan belts???

In my google search, I see quite a few houses offering the Bando Power Ace 3V560
https://www.google.com/search?q=bando+p ... belt+3v560

The 3v560 is present in the Bandousa.com catalog/website but Bando USA only sells through distributors.

Re: WTB Six NOS LM STD Barrels

Looking for a set of LM STD barrels to match my NOS TRW forged pistons for a hot turbo build. Yes, I know that Clarks has thicker barrels, but my head guy wants me to try to find NOS barrels first. There was a fellow on FB who was selling them, but I've always been a day late. There was a vendor wh...

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup

Wow, Sam you are one busy guy! Except for the falling part, I'd like to see you catching your roller-blading daughter, using a wheelchair. You must be pretty quick!

Hopefully, your leg will heal faster than two months. Cross your fingers!

Yes, all 65-69 cylinder barrels are identical so any one would do the job.

Re: WTB One NOS 65-69 barrel or cylinder unit

Mr. Motohead, I'm not working on anything in particular, I'm just trying to complete a set of piston/cylinder units to have six of the same thing.

Re: WTB One NOS 65-69 barrel or cylinder unit

No, not domed pistons. 276 is a standard flat top piston.
I'm looking for a NOS standard (empty) barrel for 65-69 or an NOS #276 flat top piston/cylinder assembly.

WTB One NOS 65-69 barrel or NOS #276 cylinder unit

I recently purchased a set of six NOS cylinder units but unfortunately, one doesn't match; it's actually a '64 with the EM-type small diameter on top. Oops So... I'm looking for one NOS cylinder barrel for a '65-9. I can use either one with a fully cast top or the banded "conversion" style...

Hi Russ! Welcome back to the asylum. :tu:
I remember 'old triple-light well an I'm glad you and your wife survived.
Your new 66 looks fantastic. 👌

Re: '66 Sprint Convertible resto aka "my first car/first Corvair"

Well done sir. How close are you to a first drive? Pretty close, Sam. I have to install and plumb the dual master cylinder, install a second junction block Cody snagged from a '67, create brake lines to fit, and bleed the brakes. After that, some kind of seat might be nice. I have a single Recaro-l...

Re: '66 Sprint Convertible resto aka "my first car/first Corvair"

I've been picking away at the project and thought it would be time for an update. 20240525_132304 (Medium).jpg 20240525_132244 (Medium).jpg JV Restorations did an awesome job on the speaker rebuild. It's all new except for the frame, gasket, and wiring. It sounds just like a new '66 Corvair. With th...

Re: Compatibility

@66Vairguy
Clutch wise, nothing I suggested is a kludge. Ball stud is on the diff so the existing one matches a flat 145 flywheel and flat 145 pressure plate combination. The entire clutch package I proposed reusing is a matching set.

Re: Compatibility

Yes the engine will fit nicely. A couple of notes: You will need a 164 MT bell housing to put the crankshaft seal in the right place on the longer 164 crankshaft. Add a pilot bushing Your existing flywheel, clutch, and transaxle is 100% compatible. Use the longer flywheel bolts and ring-spacer from ...

Re: Wanted: Early Model Battery

Thanks Frank. I agree that I could get away with a "vintage" 51-R battery at an AACA meet, but I'm afraid that ain't gonna cut it at the CORSA Convention in Dayton. In my understanding, Delco battery and AC oil filter only count as tie breakers. CORSA judging might count the battery as a ...

Re: Cracked cylinder, repair or not?

I was considering having a machine shop tig weld it shut and grind it back smooth. You're far better off just getting another cylinder and having it bored and honed to match. Welding cast iron is tricky and would distort the cylinder. It would require machining to get the repair cleaned up and fix ...
