Re: Help with my 66 Corsa convertible
Replaced the fuel pump with a NOS exact replacement of original pump. » Mon May 20, 2024 1:14 pm Thanks for the reply. Re: Stripped screw in my distributor.
  I failed to think about my answer regarding the foam cam lubricator/breaker plate pivot point. I was trying to say that there is no reason to attempt removal of this portion of the breaker plate in order to install the optical trigger sensor on the other side (in place of the original ...

Re: Stripped screw in my distributor.
I believe that the FAST/Crane Cams optical trigger sensor mounts in place of the ignition points on the breaker plate, which is on the breaker plate position opposite from the mounting post you are concerned with. That post only served to hold a foam lubricating pad that rubbed against the distribut...

Re: Thermistor or Gauge Malfunction?
https://www.corvairforum.com/forum/download/file.php?id=38310 There are two electromagnetic coils inside the gauge. The one depicted on the left side acts like an electromagnetic return "spring" that provides a constant pull of the needle to the left side — whenever the ignition key is ON...

Re: New owner here- couple questions
Here is some additional material, including some theory on how the fuel gauge circuit functions. Hopefully this will help with your troubleshooting... The attached wiring schematic shows the fuel gauge circuit on the 1964 Corvair. This is a very basic circuit, with power coming from the fuse block v...

Re: 1966 monza takes many tries to start up
A proper tune-up and system analysis will go a long way toward an easier, more-reliable startup. Follow all of the tuning, throttle synchronization and choke adjustment procedures as covered in the shop manual. A weak coil output or degraded ignition points/faulty condenser can contribute to the pro...

Re: First start in 32 years.
The spark plugs on the right side were all rusty. The left side were not. All plugs were black with soot. Must have been running rich. #6 was the cleanest of all. I’ll share a picture below. The carburetor butterflies will not open. I’m not sure why. I’m buying carburetor cleaner and carb kits. My ...

I don't know your technical background or how comfortable you are with reading Corvair wiring schematic diagrams. Your aftermarket radio likely requires both a switched (ignition switch control) and unswitched power source. The latter draws only a little power, but allows the radio electronics "...

Re: LM Front Speaker Replacement options?
Original used Corvair speakers may suffer from degraded sound due to the age of the speaker cone material. Cone material may be damaged or torn as they wear out with exposure to heat, moisture, and usage. You may be happier with a modern replacement. :google: :search: https://www.google.com/search?q...
