The generator was polerized there is nothing wrong with generator works on other corvair just fine just wanted to know about the two different regulators if the cheaper one will work I have no interest in changing over to alternator like to keep it original as much as I can never had a problem with ...

had to replace mine also had to drop the tank replace both filler and vent hose when you drop the tank or you will be doing it again real soon was not bad at all for me

I see your points on high oil pressure I never try and up the oil pressure by buying a high pressure pump or stiff relief plunger spring everytime I build a motor the oil pressure is high not real high not like that fairlane with 85 psi around 60 psi I get with differant motors I built a small block...

that seams low to me but thats what the book says also an old chevy rule was 10 psi for ever 1000 rpm so i guess 5psi at 500 rpm is ok i do not like low oil pressure on anything just how i am :dontknow:

I would say oil psi should be no lower then 20 psi at idle mine runs 38 hot 42 cold at idle 63 at cruising speed hot or cold but thats a new motor or it was a long time ago new anyways oil temp is hard to say I would say no more then 220 on a real hot day but not for a long period of time like 220 w...

the cable needs to be relaced if leaking there is a seal in the cable housing replacement is a pain the trans side is easy just a ball and fork

I use straight 30 wt rotella covential oil and lucas for dry starts run it in everything for years never a problem

I use the plastic ramps all the time for all my cars even on my 1 ton truck works great on rear of corvairs holds the weight just fine they are rated for 10000 lbs makes it a lot easier to work on them never had a problem sinking even in dirt

I understand cvair on your thinking about the oil cooler but I think I would have put in an oil temp gauge first to see if the oil temp gets hot just do not like all the extra hoses for remote coolers and then there always the possibilty of blowing an oil hose when they get old and your stranded and...

I to live in the (dry heat) desert I would first remove that oil cooler you do not need it the factory cooler works great in hot weather if the car is tuned right if you blow one of those oil cooler hoses and hot oil mist sprays everywere it can catch on fire and burn down fast keep the two carbs al...

If the engine is not pinging you are ok not much experience with the blue rtv air cleaner does not make a difference with idling
