Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
Sorry to hear about your injury and hope you have a good and speedy recovery. Any news on the old Suburban, was it like a '37 or something? I saw your old blue '64 Greenbrier the other day, it's doing good. Jim, the 38 Suburban is in process. The trucks did not have any wood in the cab except for t...

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
Well, I have an update but it is not Corvair related. On Memorial Day evening I was trying to catch my daughter who was Rollerblading, I was going at pretty good clip when the front casters on my wheelchair started to flutter like a bad grocery cart. This acted like a brake and threw me out of my ch...

Re: Overheated

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
Yes the filter is an AC Delco and I will open it and see if it has any stories to tell. I see now that my photos did not take. Both of these photos were taken with the engine hot and in drive 625rpm. Ken, all they had was a 4” pipe but with coupler nut it ended up the perfect length. I have better 0...

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
The oil is 4 months old and has 2000 miles on it. The filter is a blue PF-4. It started this after the most recent change.

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
It seems to be the same with both, no change. I think I will try a filter and oil change soon and see if that makes any difference.

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
Update, I found my other gauge and it confirmed that the gauge I had been using is way off. Both pictures were taken at 625rpm in drive hot. I turned off the car long enough to switch places with the gauges to confirm the bad gauge. I also tested the pressure switch that was in the car and it indeed...

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
Thanks Al, I will give that a try if my low tech solution fails. I have a hand pump that is with a 0-20psi gauge. I was going to adapt a Schrader valve to the pressure switch and see if that works.

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
Can I test the oil pressure sender with air? I think I have something that would work if I can use an air pump.

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
This is a very cheap gauge so I do not know how accurate it is. I have a 0-15psi gauge somewhere I will find it and see what it says. What is the sender minimum pressure supposed to be?

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
Thanks Ken my post went up and then I saw your reply. I rebuilt the motor in 2009. It has about 35k on it now. Last year I had it apart because my cam gear came loose, I caught it before it failed completely. While it was apart I looked at everything as far as crank and rod bearings and the looked v...

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
Any ideas why the gauge on the filter would read 0psi while hot and in drive, 625rpm?
