Re: Compatibility
I've never heard the LM flywheel has more of a propensity to hit EM bell housing lower bolts if the two are used together. I will probably never use a LM crankshaft and flywheel with a EM bell housing again because I'm flush with LM Manual bell housings now. If it's true it's a good thing to know. I...

Re: Loose Deep Valve Seats
If I remember right it is 356 aluminum alloy.
Interesting point that sunken head gaskets are a sign of aluminum that has gone soft but if I threw away all the heads I have with that condition I wouldn't have many left.

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
I will say again that 1 5/16" toe-out sounds like a crazy number and having to move the powertrain back 1" sounds like a crazy number. I've just never encountered something that excessive. Something has to be terribly wrong. FC front mounting brackets are about 4 " longer. EM and LMs ...

Re: Compatibility
Someone above said the LM crankshaft is longer but the seal surface area is shorter. If you put a EM Manual bell housing on a LM crankshaft it's right out at the end of the crankshaft. I've used a shim behind the seal in a EM bell housing to move the seal further on to the crankshaft. I think last t...

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
I'm sorry but my head is swimming. Good information but I can't take it all in at the moment. That much shim is ridulous. I appreciate your measuring and approach but an inch of toe-out would have to be visible. Moving the differential ahead gives toe-out, back gives toe-in. Regarding rear rubber mo...

Re: Fuel Tank Sender Lock Ring Tool
The beauty of the tool is getting all 3 or 4 tabs started at the same time when installing. With a screwdriver holding the sender and o-ring and retainer in one hand while holding the screwdriver with the other hand and using a hammer with your third hand is a bit much. SERENITY NOW! If I had to go ...

Re: Loose Deep Valve Seats
I had heads heat treated for my race car and it was a very expensive endeavor. As explained to me by the Machine Shop I was using at the time, the aluminum moves around somewhat during the process and "everything" needs to be remachined. I believe it is absolutely the way to go because the...

So the tool may have slots for 4 tabs but it only engages 3, in other words one slot in the tool isn't engaging anything...

Re: What Model Edelbrock aircleaner for 140hp?
I don't know the answer but my initial thought is that the base of our air cleaner housing is so small compared to something that sits on a carburetor. Oftentimes the air cleaner itself is good but the adapter is hokey. Just a thought. Also provision for PCV in the air cleaner as a place for vapors ...

Re: Fuel Tank Sender Lock Ring Tool
Don't we have 3 tabs and the tool above has provision for 4? I could be wrong.

Re: My plans and thoughts about running for CORSA Western Director
A while back I did the wiping out old cookies procedure they recommended over there if having trouble logging in. Since I'm a computer idiot I was apprehensive about losing other things but I didn't have any problems. Some folks were concerned about their bank account logging in and such but I don't...

Re: Oil Pressure Issue at startup
I've had some weird things happen with oil pressure if the piston and spring thingy that is accessed through the side of the rear housing is not operating freely. Sometimes not enough oil pressure and sometimes too much. I don't know if it's your problem I just throw it out there for consideration. ...

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
One time I was convinced a 64 had bad front mounts because the engine was leaning. It turned out the two 3/8 and one 7/16 bolts holding the bracket to the front of the 4 speed transmission were loose.

I posted a follow-up over there wondering who the moderators are. I only know of Matt and Alec who have been helpful to me, a barely computer literate fossil. I know some moderators were let go. I like that there is a CORSA and I hope it can get straightened out. I have done my part by voting for Ja...

Re: CCLARK'S SMALL CHROME AIR CLEANERS
How about the idea that just a filter is just a vent rather than positive crankcase ventilation from engine vacuum or air flow through carburetor during low vacuum situations. Someone said even the road draft tube has some scavenging effect when the car is underway. Jim Brandberg Isanti, MN CorvairR...

Re: My plans and thoughts about running for CORSA Western Director
It's well and good to stop the trash talking. I hope CORSA can improve, I like that there is such a thing. I've voted for Jack Green in Central Division and will try to stop saying why the other guy is not my choice. One might think it's a modern problem with Facebook and all but we've always had tr...
