There is no drain plug for the diff so you will need to suck that out. I would add some TransX trans conditioner to the PG to help ...

Re: Cleaning ductwork
Remove the tunnel covers from under the car. There should be a brace under the rear seat area and then a strap at the very back. You also have the large oval hose at the rear. If it is the original hose, still good and you want to save it. They never really want to come off of the duct without destr...

Would it be a good idea to go ahead and rebuild the rear wheel bearings while the car is apart? If they have never been that grease will be getting very dried out by now.

It would be a good idea to make sure that the fins in the head are open. Not just from debri which it sounds like you have done but also make sure that there is no casting material blocking the passages. I like to put a light on the bottom side and then use a keyhole saw to clean them up.

Yes, you would need to cut the end of the oil cooler extensions in order to use the 12 plate cover. The upper 3" heater hose will be on the pass. side instead of the oval shaped outlet on the driver's side.

Re: Tire pressure
The numbers need to match the tire. Some have a max pressure of 44 psi and others are 32 psi. So just a standard number doesn't work.

10 psi less in the front works good based on the load rating of the tires that you are using.

Re: LM Front Speaker Replacement options?
In my first '65 corvair it had a stock, factory looking speaker that had, wrote in yellow wrecking yard pen '64 Impala. So there could be other sites to check for a stock speaker.
