Re: 66 Monza 140

It starts and runs no issue with that part. Put it it drive or reverse it dies. I can drive it around the neighborhood but each time I come to a full stop it dies.

Re: 66 Monza 140

Alright I’m stumped. Can’t get this thing running. I really want to fix myself but just can’t figure it out. I have the money to pay someone but I’d really like to pay someone to teach me how to fix this. Any idea?

Re: 66 Monza 140

Checked all 4 inline filters to carbs. They all look good , made of some kind of pumus rock feeling stuff. Also I shined a light into the carbs, I can see no debris they look extremely clean. I really don’t want to pay someone to get it running but getting frustrated here

Re: 66 Monza 140

Yes it’s a Monza 140 with the PG. I’ll check into the distributor but I don’t think that was the issue since it ran fine before I put the 87 in. Also yes I do have one friend that has his own plane so I’ll check into that You do not want to run 100LL Avgas in a car. For one thing it's illegal to use ...

66 Monza 140

Hey all, so when I bought this one I took it on a test drive, idle seemed a bit high but drove it around and seemed to run good. Got it home and it had less than a 1/4 tank so I proceed to put in about 5 gallons of 87. After that each time I put it in drive it dies. Also deisels when I shut it off ...

Re: 66 engine/body harness

Thanks all, I’m going to replace the engine harness and buy a Shop Assembly Manual this week. If that doesn’t work then I’ll get the body harness too

66 engine/body harness

So I replaced the dash harness as there was no fuse box which helped getting my signals and brake lights. Before I did this the car cranked over and started. According to this pic should I replace the other 2 harness or should I just try to fix the wiring here??

Re: Turn signals/brake lights

I just recalled that installing the harness plug into the bulkhead that connects to the trunk harness is next to impossible unless you remove the instrument cluster. You have to make a tool out of wood to push directly from the back of the connector. Another thing. The 1965 models had a separate ...

Re: Turn signals/brake lights

Thanks 66vairguy, looks like I’ll be buying the harness for the engine and under dash. As you can see in the pics there’s no fuse box at all. Why do some guys think it’s okay to pull this stuff just for an aftermarket stereo??!!

Re: New guy

Welcome. The PCV system isn't hooked up correctly and the fresh air hose to the heater is hanging open. It goes to an opening on the back of the engine fan shroud. If the shroud air exit for the hose is left open, then the engine WILL overheat resulting in very expensive head job. So here’s a pic o ...

Can’t get anything to work except a very dim set of headlights.

Re: New guy

Thanks guys!! Orange County. I’ll definitely make sure I fix the heater hose. First thing though is fixing the brake lights. I just got into cars again as my Dad and I used to work on them together. The 4 carbs I’ll keep and hopefully be able to fix myself.
