Re: Bench Wrenching
We had a situation on the Isuzu forum a few years back where a member had installed a rebuilt, but couldn't get it to run right. Everybody offered (often good) troubleshooting advice. Finally the moderators asked everyone but a very experienced member to stand down. It still took a while, but the pr...

Re: America, Your Cars Are Getting Old
All the Foresters have or had the 4EAT or whatever they call it. Baja is a 5 speed manual. Our first, a 1998 had the differential go out after having it for several years. They're much like a Powerglide Corvair with a separate gearlube reservoir in the diff and ATF in the transmission. The 98 had ru...

Re: America, Your Cars Are Getting Old
For most of our 35 year married life we have been a one income family. We used to save money and buy an approximately 5 year old car and around 50K miles. When my oldest daughter crashed the last of the 5 year plan cars, we opted for a 10 year and 100K miles Subaru Forester. We all loved it, and we'...

Re: '62 Monza convertible "Ralphie"
Turns out I did have it installed correctly. That's behind me now. Because there is still electrical to hook up to the pump, and because part of that electrical (prime button) will be wiring behind the dash, it is time to focus on the Spyder dash install. First thing was to reset the Spyder odometer...

Re: Compatibility
Thanks Jim, Good information. Nobody has mentioned the casting numbers yet. The 6256583 (60-63) has the cam indentation (number opposite starter side). The 3832176 is the late model (64-69). Just thought I'd kick this in for the curious. Dennis

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
The video shows he doesn't have an inch to go back. I was mainly focusing on the up-down factor with the axle clearance and then the engine seals. Personally, I've always done my toe settings measuring from the inner sidewall of the tires at a certain height from the floor, this ranges from heavy tr...

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
Video worked fine for me as well. What I did notice, and you mentioned is that the front of your engine appears low. I know you have new mounts, and they LOOK correct, but they also seem to be sticking down kind of low (the rubber part). IIRC, Clark's lists 3 different kinds of mounts: 60-63, 64, an...

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
If the power pack is sitting 1'' forward of where it should be, how can this be possible if there is only like a 3/4'' oval hole in the rear mount bracket? Wrong rear mount bracket maybe? Wrong front crossmember (trans crossmember) maybe (wagon vs others different?). Maybe whole rear suspension cros...

Re: Fuel Tank Sender Lock Ring Tool
Just had to make my own version of this tool Saturday to re-install the lock ring with the tank in my car (EM). Had to be able to push in to compress the O-ring while twisting to get the locks started. My tool worked for starting the ring and a hammer and screwdriver finished the job. Dennis

Re: CCLARK'S SMALL CHROME AIR CLEANERS
So to take it back to the original question "I'm thinking about..." I have to ask: Is your OEM air filter system so bad? Think about it: You're taking ONE big air filter, and replacing it with 4 SMALLER air filters that while it looks cool, will be less efficient (not to mention the whole ...

Re: '62 Monza convertible "Ralphie"
It has me worried now. The pump has an arrow pointing direction of flow. Following that, I have the end with the large Hex as outlet. The instructions seem to show the hex end as the inlet. Thinking about undoing the hoses and hooking to a battery to confirm. Yes, I was concerned about sticking down...

Re: Help with my 66 Corsa convertible
Coils can get hot when there is a continuous cranking (no start). You said it's not getting fuel now? Don't know your maintenance history, but good idea to check the rubber fuel lines at the tank to tunnel, and just in front of the engine compartment near the starter. I had one making a fool out of ...

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening
I just looked at a '64 convertible that a (new) friend has yesterday. I noticed that his engine is sagging (bad rear mount) and the engine sits much lower on the left side. Can't wait to see what his axles look like (yes, I'll be working on it). Dennis

Re: '62 Monza convertible "Ralphie"
Wow! It's been almost two months since I posted any progress. Been working on a lot of little things like sandblasting various tin and fittings and painting them. A major project I've been working on here and there was figuring out how to mount my fuel pump near the tank without drilling holes throu...
