Re: Help with my 66 Corsa convertible

Coils can get hot when there is a continuous cranking (no start). You said it's not getting fuel now? Don't know your maintenance history, but good idea to check the rubber fuel lines at the tank to tunnel, and just in front of the engine compartment near the starter. I had one making a fool out of ...

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening

I just looked at a '64 convertible that a (new) friend has yesterday. I noticed that his engine is sagging (bad rear mount) and the engine sits much lower on the left side. Can't wait to see what his axles look like (yes, I'll be working on it). Dennis

Re: '62 Monza convertible "Ralphie"

Wow! It's been almost two months since I posted any progress. Been working on a lot of little things like sandblasting various tin and fittings and painting them. A major project I've been working on here and there was figuring out how to mount my fuel pump near the tank without drilling holes throu...

That's a lot of work for a potential failure. Dennis

My '65 Corsa had a gear drive that worked like a power window motor and a lame set of cables that went to each side mechanism. Never worked right, yanked it out and made it manual. My '62 is completely manual. Dennis

Re: New owner here- couple questions

Wrlcome. You'd NEVER want to weld seatbelts in. My '62 didn't come with seatbelts, but there does seem to be factory reinforcement under the floor pan where the seatbelts were added. If there isn't, you will want to reinforce any bolts through the floor with a large fender washer to help spread any ...

Re: EM - Axle rubbing on A-Arm opening

I agree with Joel and Ken. The contact point on your axle in the picture seems to indicate that your powertrain is too far forward as it's rubbing on the inside. I just went through replacing the rear suspension mounts on mine (between body and rear suspension cradle). It changed ride height by mayb...

Re: 1966 monza takes many tries to start up

A little more info on the "2-12 tries". Cold only? Hot only? Cranking for how long? Backfiring, coughing, nothing? If it's cold, I agree with Frank, check for the carb accelerator pumps squirting a good strong stream. Do this by removing the air cleaner and working the throttle before any ...

Re: Engine Stand, easy question to answer

I did the same thing for test firing my engine while sitting on it's dolly. Personally, I like the idea of a cut down automatic diff housing, but unless a super cheap deal comes along, I'll keep using the 1/2'' spacers. Dennis

Re: First start in 32 years.

I got one out of 4 old fuel pumps to pump fuel (manually pushing plunger). It only pumped once. One was powder inside. You can try it, but keep an eye for fuel leaking out the weep hole on top or fuel getting into your oil. Found pinholes in my tank too, but I sealed my with a good grade tank sealer...

Re: Cleaning ductwork

By all means try cleaning before replacement (note I said "might". I had used bleach, vinegar, purple power, but there are other cleaners that I hadn't tried. Obviously, it will require removing the long duct. When I was a kid, we used to take them out and throw them away as most of my Cor...

Re: Tips for Corvan roofs

A little more information on what you want to do "awning ?". Back in the day, most roof racks clamped under the drip rail and had suction cups within a couple of inches of the rail, any other load wad carried by the "bridge: of the roof rack. The . roofs, like many domestic cars of th...

Re: Cleaning ductwork

From his title and searching a previous post, he (they) have a 1965. The long plastic duct could be a problem. I recently had a full dresser cycle that had been sitting for some time, long enough for rats to get involved. I tried every kind of cleaner and soaking and the rat pee smell just wouldn't ...
