Re: Turbo turbine seal gap
Thanks Ken, seems like it should be ok then. I pulled it apart to be sure and the ends are definitely straight across. Ken

Re: Turbo turbine seal gap
The photo in Clarks webpage clearly shows the steps on the seal ends. Maybe they were there but I couldn’t see them clearly under the plastic retainer…

Turbo turbine seal gap
I just installed a new turbine seal from Clark’s and could see a small gap where the seal comes together under the plastic installation retainer. The groove in the turbine shaft is totally clear of carbon and I oriented the gap “up” as I’ve seen recommended. I did not measure the gap but am wonderin...

Re: New to page
If you’re at all considering EFI, here’s ’a Mikuni EFI throttle body I plan to use in a turbo build, from a Suzuki TL1000R. It has a 2” bore and I’ve swapped in 870cc injectors… I had adapters cnc’d for the “top” and “bottom” and plan to do a more detailed post when I get to assembly. I believe Ted ...

Re: Engine mystery
One time the starter motor stayed engaged on my 140 and it sounded awful. Took me a few seconds to figure it out, but it disengaged normally the next time I started it. Cranked slowly though. I think the noise was pretty clearly coming from the starter in my case though… Ken

Re: New Member. 87 Octane gas
Did it smell like gas? It’s pretty common to get crud from the fuel system into the inlet valves of the carburetor, allowing them to overfill. You should be able to see this in other the air cleaner removed. The engine will run very rough and can stall when this happens. Ken

Re: Turbo Tech: 7sec boost run(s) compared - draw through & blow through
Thanks Tom, I’m still in the mock up stage and will post more later, but I’m planning a Mikuni throttle body turbo for my car. It’s from a Suzuki TL1000 w 2 870cc injectors fitted. Hope it works!

Re: Turbo Tech: 7sec boost run(s) compared - draw through & blow through
Interesting that the draw through F is building higher boost while the RPM is increasing at a slower rate. Different gear ratios maybe? Is the blow through running 4 carbs? And what carb is the draw through running? Ken

Re: 1965 Corsa Coupe
I guess it depends on what approach you want to take. You can be minimalist, changing the oil and cleaning the carbs, etc, to see how it sounds running, or go deep! It will take you longer and cost more in gaskets and seals, but you can better know what you have. For example, you can see how much sl...

Re: When Valves Don't Measure Up!
Anything wrong with using a telescoping bore gauge and calipers for this measurement? It seemed to produce pretty repeatable results when I tried it a couple of years ago with a set of Isky springs… Ken

Re: ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP CONVERSION IDEAS & SUGGESTIONS
My pump setup is on its way from Clark's (basic kit, fuel pump plate, plus install kit). Obviously, pumps would rather push than pull, but I'm looking for the EASIEST spot to install it, like in the engine compartment. I saw a vid of a guy who installed one in the incoming line and it worked fine f...

Re: EM Removing Front Springs
I separate at the ball joint and use all thread without any troubles. I also have 1/2 aluminum plate scrap like Frank. Disassembling, you can slightly back off the ball joint nut after removing the shock. Make sure you still have full thread engagement. The force from the still captive spring will h...

Re: New Wheel Setup vs. Stock
Here's my 65 with stock looking 15" wheels and tires. From a previous post on CCF: "The wheels were used on GM models from 1974-1990 including 1980-1990 Caprice, 74-77 Chevelle, 74-75 Monte Carlo. They will have the code TF, RF, or FL near the valve stem. Backspacing is 4" and offset ...
