Re: Dolly towing a Corvair
Plenty of people have dolly or flat towed Corvairs like that with no issues. Tom Gould flat-towed his famous Grey Ghost drag race car (4-speed) over 30,000 mile during a 2-year racing period with no issues. You'll be fine.

Re: Toro Corvair Project Thread azdave
Update: It's been 11 fun years since putting this V8 Corvair back on the road. I've done little significantly new to it in all that time except to drive it and show it off but now may be the finale of my V8 Corvair ownership. I had already sold off my other two Toro V8's a few years back and this we...

Cathy and I are planning to attend. We'll probably bring the Stinger tribute instead of a trailer load of swap stuff.

Re: Corvair Bellhousing ID
I take it that the early and late model flex plates are different as well? Stop using "early" or "late model" as a cutoff point for engine changes. Instead, think of when the engines significantly changed in 64 to the longer stroke crank. Yes there is a 60-63 flex plate and a 64...

Re: Tail lights . . . removing backup and having four turn, running & brake?
I'm 99% sure the turn signal switch under the steering wheel is the issue. That is the only thing that will interrupt power to the left or right rear brake lights but still allow fully working marker lights and turn signals. I assume those are still okay since you did not mention them being out. Do ...

Re: Windshield for a 1965 convertible
It's a whole lot of work to polish glass but it only wastes a little money and a lot of time if you want to try it. The NAGS code used to shop for LM Corvair windshield glass is DW659 or DW659T (top tint) if you decide to replace the glass on your own.

Quarter window trim?
While the 1/4 glass is different between coupes and convertibles, the vertical leading edge chrome trim and rubber seal are the same for all 65-69 cars (except 4-doors of course).
Clarks C2586 for a nice repro set of the chromed trim or Ebay of course.

I recall seeing this one somewhere else maybe a year or more ago. We discussed how the cocktail shakers (harmonic dampeners) in the trunk are installed incorrectly.

It's actually nine here at home right now. Just didn't bother changing the sig line after the last purchase. Can't pass up a cheap Corvair it seems.

Re: A Tale of Woe..
:dontknow:  If you cannot start the engine, how will a dwell meter help? My analog dwell meter will measure properly when cranking the engine but you don't really need to bother with that yet. A dwell reading drifting will not prevent an engine start. If you have spark then you at least know y...

Re: A Tale of Woe..
Well, just went out and tried some Starting Fluid which I had on hand from pre-rebuild carbs testing. Same result. Momentarily wants to catch, but, NO. Rules out fuel?? I would not suspect a lack of fuel now. The pressure gauge you mention would not be seeing 5 psi either. The filters in the carbs ...

Re: A Tale of Woe..
Not likely there. I have new fuel tank, fresh fill of 93 and new filters. The activation of the linkage has fuel mist in both carbs, which appears even. The carbs which Mr. Meadows fixed were recently rebuilt but he notes they are not always correct for that alone. AND it was running perfect ...unt...

Re: A Tale of Woe..
Don't start messing with the ignition and timing settings yet. You said you have spark but can you confirm you are still getting fuel? Maybe you lost a fuel pump or the system is full of junk and it slowly clogged up.
